Giese Hunt

Giese is cruel, cynical and deliberately provocative. He understands that Johan considers his Gem Beasts friends and therefore attacks those spirits specifically to destabilize him emotionally.

His contempt for the bond between duelists and spirits is not based entirely on ignorance. Giese understands that such relationships can be genuine, which makes his decision to capture and exploit spirits considerably more malicious.

He enjoys having control over vulnerable beings. Threatening captured spirits gives him leverage over people who care about them, and he repeatedly uses that emotional advantage during his confrontation with Johan.

Giese can see Duel Monster spirits, an ability he uses to hunt rather than befriend them. He captures spirits inside specialized containers and has accumulated multiple victims before encountering Johan.

His Prey Counter Deck revolves around marking opposing monsters with Prey Counters and then exploiting those marked targets. The strategy resembles a hunter identifying and weakening prey before finishing it.

Giese combines his supernatural perception with preparation and psychological warfare. Capturing Sapphire Pegasus before challenging Johan allows him to begin their confrontation with a significant emotional and strategic advantage.

Cobra hires Giese during the Survival Duel period and arranges for Johan to encounter him in the laboratory where experimental work involving Duel Monsters has occurred.

Giese reveals that he has captured numerous spirits and specifically targets Johan's Gem Beasts. He also possesses the spirit of Jerry Beans Man, taken from a young duelist named Tom.

Johan battles Giese to free the captured spirits and defeats him after recovering his Gem Beasts. Judai also intervenes when Giese threatens to physically damage the Jerry Beans Man card.

After Giese's defeat, the spirits he imprisoned emerge around him, and the hunter disappears as his former victims surround him.

Johan Andersen is Giese's primary target because of his connection to the Gem Beasts. Giese deliberately torments Johan Andersen by capturing Sapphire Pegasus and threatening other spirits.

Cobra hires Giese to confront Johan during the Survival Duel period.

Tom is a young duelist whose Jerry Beans Man spirit Giese captures after defeating him.

Judai Yuki arrives during Giese's confrontation with Johan and prevents him from destroying Jerry Beans Man's card.
