Personality
Personality
Enmi is vindictive, relentless and willing to continue attacking an enemy even when physically defeated. His confrontation with Sakata Gintoki demonstrates a refusal to accept defeat quietly.
He possesses an intense hatred for the Joui warriors responsible for destroying his forces. Gintoki's reputation as the White Yaksha makes him the particular focus of Enmi's hostility.
Rather than pursuing ordinary battlefield victory, Enmi is prepared to inflict consequences extending far beyond the immediate confrontation.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Enmi uses curse-like techniques represented through glowing inscriptions and markings. His powers distinguish him from the conventional Amanto soldiers and mercenaries surrounding the Joui War.
His most consequential weapon is the White Plague, a nanomachine virus capable of spreading through living hosts and causing catastrophic disease.
Enmi implants the virus into Gintoki during their wartime confrontation. It remains dormant for years before mutating and spreading through the future, transforming Gintoki himself into the origin point of the catastrophe.
Enmi is also physically capable enough to confront the White Yaksha directly on the battlefield, although Gintoki ultimately surpasses him in close combat.
Story Role
Story Role
Enmi first appears in the Joui War, where his mercenary clan battles the samurai resistance. He confronts Gintoki during a brutal engagement and places a curse upon him.
Five years after Gintoki's present, Edo has been devastated by the White Plague. The mystery of the disease sends Gintoki searching for the event that created it.
The plague is revealed to originate from Enmi's nanomachine weapon, which was implanted in Gintoki during their battle and evolved inside him before spreading across Edo.
To prevent the ruined future, Gintoki and his allies travel back to the Joui War and intervene in the original battle, ensuring that Enmi and the source of the plague are destroyed before the infection can create the future they witnessed.
Relationships
Relationships
Sakata Gintoki is Enmi's principal enemy and the White Yaksha who defeats him during the Joui War. Enmi turns Gintoki into the carrier through whom the White Plague eventually devastates Edo.
Shimura Shinpachi and Kagura join the effort to change the past and prevent Enmi's plague from creating the devastated future.
Kotarou Katsura, Shinsuke Takasugi and Tatsuma Sakamoto are Joui warriors associated with the battlefield on which Enmi confronts Gintoki.
