Edison

Edison is energetic, excitable, and constantly distracted by new ideas. Inspiration can interrupt his attention to whatever experiment or crisis is already underway.

He depends on the other satellites to test, build, and support his concepts. This division of labor reflects Vegapunk’s attempt to externalize separate mental functions.

Edison remains loyal during York’s betrayal and risks his body to help the others escape.

Edison possesses a small artificial body capable of movement and remote scientific work. His principal strength is inventive thought rather than physical combat.

He accesses Punk Records and contributes ideas to Vegapunk’s research network. He can also issue commands to Seraphim under the established authority hierarchy.

His body survives severe damage long enough to assist the Egghead escape.

Edison observes the Straw Hats’ demonstrations against Seraphim and generates ideas from the encounter. He becomes involved in the changing command struggle over the weapons.

During the siege, he helps coordinate the escape route and attempts to lower the Frontier Dome.

Edison’s body is gravely damaged, but his consciousness survives. He later participates in the combined satellite consciousness linked to Punk Records.

Vegapunk created Edison as the satellite embodying inventive thought.

Pythagoras works closely with Edison on observation and analysis.

Lilith, Atlas, Shaka, and York are Edison’s fellow satellites.
