David Swallow

David is relaxed, friendly, and concerned about the well-being of his squadmates. He lacks the severe class-conscious demeanor shown by some Golden Dawn nobles and appears comfortable around his fellow members.

His strongest characterization comes through his loyalty to the Golden Dawn. When the squad suffers devastating losses, David's reaction centers on the people who cannot be saved rather than his own survival.

He also retains enough composure to function during large-scale crises despite possessing an inherently unpredictable magical attribute.

David uses Dice Magic, manifesting magical dice whose effects become stronger according to the number of pips rolled.

Gambler's Fallacy is his principal demonstrated spell. The roll determines the resulting power, meaning David's output can vary significantly between uses.

As a nobleman, David possesses substantial mana. After being freed from elf possession, he retains some of the increased magical power associated with his elven host.

David becomes prominent during the Elf Reincarnation conflict. He serves as the human vessel of the elf Baval and is possessed when Patolli completes the reincarnation ritual.

The possessed David joins other Golden Dawn elves during the assault on Clover Castle. Zagred later briefly seizes control of David's body from Baval before abandoning it for another vessel.

Six months later, David is at Golden Dawn headquarters when the Spade Kingdom attacks. He is among the members caught in the devastation created by Zenon Zogratis and his Dark Disciples.

William Vangeance's Budding of Yggdrasil heals David and other survivors after Zenon departs. David is relieved to survive but devastated that approximately half of the squad cannot be saved.

William Vangeance is David's captain and later saves David and several surviving Golden Dawn members with a healing spell left behind after his defeat.

Yuno is one of David's fellow Golden Dawn members and later becomes central to the squad's recovery after the Spade Kingdom attack.

Baval is the elf whose soul reincarnates within David during the Elf Reincarnation conflict.

Zenon Zogratis leads the attack that devastates Golden Dawn headquarters and leaves David critically injured.
