Daraku

Daraku is obsessively clean. He pays close attention not only to his own clothing but also to dirt on other people, going so far as to remove dust from Shimura Shinpachi when they first meet.

That fastidious behavior masks a ruthless criminal. Daraku is willing to traffic a dangerous narcotic, cooperate with corrupt officials and take hostages when his operation is threatened.

He is also confident in the protection offered by his political connections, which encourages him to operate more openly than an ordinary smuggler.

Daraku is a capable combatant associated with the Harusame, one of the largest criminal organizations operating across space.

He possesses substantial physical strength and is dangerous enough to overpower opponents who interfere with his drug operation.

His more important power comes from organization and connections. Daraku controls a Tenseikyou trafficking network and benefits from cooperation with corrupt Bakufu-linked figures.

Daraku operates a smuggling network distributing Tenseikyou, a dangerous narcotic. His activities are protected through his relationship with the Amanto official Kinya.

The Joui faction begins investigating the operation. Daraku mistakenly identifies Shinpachi and Kagura as Joui agents and takes them captive, while Sakata Gintoki becomes involved after discovering the illegal transaction.

Kotarou Katsura uses the confrontation to destroy Daraku's stockpile of Tenseikyou. With the smuggling operation collapsing, Gintoki defeats Daraku directly.

Kinya is the corrupt Amanto official whose cooperation helps protect Daraku's drug-trafficking operation.

Sakata Gintoki becomes Daraku's principal opponent after discovering his activities.

Shimura Shinpachi and Kagura are captured after Daraku mistakes them for members of the Joui movement.

Kotarou Katsura investigates the Tenseikyou trade and attacks Daraku's drug supply.
