Daniel Fou Durland

Daniel is sociable and comparatively down-to-earth. He can speak casually with Leon and Raymond without constantly measuring their usefulness according to noble rank.

He is initially surprised to learn that Leon is the promising first-year student being discussed by upperclassmen. Leon's explanation—that he became an adventurer largely to escape an awful arranged marriage—helps establish the relaxed tone of their friendship.

Daniel shares the frustrations of ordinary male students within Holfort's academy system. Unlike Julius's group, he has neither exceptional status nor the advantages associated with being a capture target.

Daniel has the education expected of a Holfort noble and academy student but no unique combat technique or magical specialty is prominently established.

His narrative role deliberately remains closer to that of an ordinary student. Where Leon possesses Luxion and Julius's companions have specialized talents, Daniel represents the much broader population of young nobles trying to graduate, marry and establish themselves.

Daniel meets Leon and Raymond during the academy welcome party. The three quickly begin socializing together, giving Leon his first straightforward male friendships at school.

Daniel's reaction to Leon's reputation emphasizes the difference between how Leon views himself and how other students increasingly perceive him. Leon still thinks of himself as a minor background noble even as his adventuring accomplishments have already begun attracting attention.

Daniel and Raymond continue appearing as members of Leon's academy social circle while the protagonist becomes progressively more involved with royalty, wars and Lost Items.

Leon Fou Bartfort is Daniel's friend and fellow academy student. Their friendship predates Leon's rise to national prominence.

Raymond Fou Arkin is Daniel's other close friend at the academy, and the three regularly spend time together during their school life.
