Personality
Personality
Bacterian is crude, dirty, arrogant, and entirely comfortable using disgust as a tactical weapon. He knows that most opponents are physically repulsed by him and exploits their reactions without embarrassment.
His tactics include spitting, exposing opponents to his body odor, and using deliberately unhygienic attacks that most martial artists would never consider.
Bacterian's confidence collapses once his stench loses its effect. Without the psychological and physical advantage created by his odor, he is far less capable of controlling the fight.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Bacterian possesses considerable natural size and strength, allowing him to knock down Krillin and repeatedly strike him while he is incapacitated by the smell.
His primary weapon is his body odor. Having never bathed, his breath and general stench are so powerful that even the tournament announcer struggles to remain near him and eventually uses a gas mask.
His attacks include spitting, foul breath, rubbing sweat and filth on opponents, and releasing flatulence. These techniques rely more on overwhelming an opponent's senses than on refined martial arts.
Story Role
Story Role
Bacterian advances through the preliminaries of the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai and draws Krillin in the first match of the main tournament.
His stench immediately overwhelms Krillin, allowing Bacterian to knock him down and continue attacking as the referee counts. At nine, Goku reminds Krillin that he does not actually have a nose and therefore cannot truly be smelling Bacterian.
Freed from the psychological effect, Krillin easily avoids Bacterian's attacks, lands a powerful kick, and finally retaliates with a fart of his own. Bacterian concedes the match.
Anime material later places Bacterian among the martial artists targeted during Piccolo Daimaou's purge. Tambourine kills him, after which he is eventually restored alongside Piccolo's other victims.
Relationships
Relationships
Krillin is Bacterian's opponent in the first round of the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai and the fighter who defeats him.
Goku indirectly turns the match around by reminding Krillin that he has no nose and therefore has no reason to be affected by Bacterian's smell.
Tambourine attacks Bacterian in anime material during the campaign against previous tournament fighters.
