Alice Nakiri

Alice is outgoing, playful and considerably less formal than her cousin. She enjoys teasing people, gossiping and inserting herself into conversations, while her emotional reactions can become dramatically exaggerated whenever events fail to go her way.

She is nevertheless intensely competitive. Alice has spent much of her life comparing herself with Erina and wants recognition as a chef capable of surpassing the God's Tongue. Her confidence is supported by genuine technical expertise rather than family status alone.

Alice can also be bossy toward Ryō Kurokiba, whom she frequently orders around. Their long partnership is far more balanced in the kitchen than her everyday treatment of him initially suggests.

Alice specializes in molecular gastronomy, applying scientific principles to cooking. She uses equipment such as centrifuges, liquid nitrogen and precision instruments to manipulate temperature, texture, density and presentation.

Her technical knowledge is exceptional even by Tōtsuki standards. Alice can deconstruct familiar dishes and rebuild their sensory components into forms that challenge diners' expectations. Her childhood training in research environments outside Japan gives her experience unavailable to most students.

Her early weakness is an inclination to prioritize technical sophistication and visual surprise over the emotional context of a dish. Competition against chefs with more customer-oriented backgrounds forces her to confront the difference between scientific perfection and food designed around the person eating it.

Alice returns to Japan and enters Tōtsuki alongside the other members of the 92nd Generation, quickly establishing herself as one of the year's strongest students. Her rivalry with Erina provides an additional branch of competition within the Nakiri family.

She becomes a major participant in the Autumn Elections and reaches the main tournament, where she faces Sōma Yukihira. Despite the technical sophistication of her bentō, Sōma defeats her with a dish built around the experience of opening, eating and enjoying a lunch box. The loss challenges Alice's tendency to approach food primarily through technology.

Alice later opposes Central and becomes part of the Rebel faction. After the Régiment de Cuisine overturns Central's control, she is appointed to the new Elite Ten as its Sixth Seat.

Erina Nakiri is Alice's cousin and lifelong rival. Alice cares about her deeply despite their competitive relationship and repeatedly tries to pull the socially sheltered Erina into ordinary teenage experiences.

Ryō Kurokiba is Alice's closest companion and cooking partner. She discovered him while living abroad and brought him into her culinary world; their relationship combines constant bickering with deep trust.

Senzaemon Nakiri is Alice's grandfather and patriarch of the Nakiri family.

Sōe Nakiri is Alice's father, while Leonora Nakiri is her mother.

Sōma Yukihira becomes Alice's opponent in the Autumn Elections and later an ally.

Akira Hayama and Ryō Kurokiba form, with Alice, a particularly competitive group of young chefs connected to the Shiomi Seminar.
