About
Chi You is a demon god from ancient China who appears in various forms throughout early Chinese mythology and classical texts. He was revered as the God of War and as the inventor of the Five Bronze Weapons. In the ancient ritual tradition, only the emperor who had received the Mandate of Heaven was permitted to ascend the sacred mountain and perform the sealing rites dedicated to Chi You. In China, the right to be king had to be granted by Chi You himself. He was defeated by Qin Shi Huang in 219 BC.
