Bariete is excitable and expressive, reacting loudly to unusual visitors or sudden danger. His speech pattern reinforces the energy with which he delivers reports.

He remains loyal to the dukedom and continues performing his responsibilities despite the devastation caused by the Beasts Pirates.

As a mink, Bariete possesses greater physical ability than an ordinary animal of comparable size and can move effectively through Zou’s forested terrain.

He is capable of climbing and scouting from elevated positions. No specialized weapon, Sulong combat style, or named technique has been established for him.

Bariete appears during the Straw Hat Pirates’ arrival on Zou, where he contributes to the island’s network of guards and messengers. His presence helps establish the everyday organization of the Mokomo Dukedom beyond its principal rulers and warriors.

He survives the destruction inflicted during Jack’s search for Raizo and remains part of Zou’s community after the invaders withdraw.

Wanda is a fellow mink and senior member of the Mokomo Dukedom’s defensive organization.

Carrot belongs to the same community and later assumes leadership responsibilities on Zou.

Inuarashi and Nekomamushi are the rulers Bariete serves as a gatekeeper.
